LPDF built toilets, libraries, and boundary walls across Purulia and Bankura, creating safe learning spaces for rural children.
The Challenge
Driving out from Kolkata to remote, off-map government primary schools is rarely quick — roads narrow, phone signal disappears, and each school reveals a new set of gaps that don't show up in any official report.
No separate toilets for girls, open compounds with no boundary wall, and classrooms without a proper floor or a working light were the norm rather than the exception.
Our Approach
This is not top-down construction. We work hand-in-hand with school committees, local contractors, and parents to understand what each site genuinely needs, not what's simplest to build.
Boundary walls went up first at schools bordering forest land, followed by separate toilet blocks, and finally libraries and classroom furniture — sequenced around each school's most urgent safety gap.

The Impact
Over the course of the two-month build, five schools across Purulia and Bankura saw complete infrastructure transformations — and the numbers speak for themselves.
5 toilet facilities constructed · 1,200+ students now benefit · 8 schools received boundary walls

Students and community members gather at a newly completed school facility, enabled and empowered by LPDF.
